Children from year one to year six enjoyed reading ‘Selkie’ by Gillian McClure. The book was used as a stimulus for some super, creative writing. We were lucky to have a visit from Gillian a the end of the week and the children were able to hear first-hand how she finds inspiration for writing and illustrating her books.
Reception also had a visit from author Carolina Rabei, who shared with the children some tips on how to create their very own picture book illustrations.
Other activities included dressing up as a book character on World Book Day, design a book cover competition, extreme reading competition and participating in voting for Cambridgeshire’s favourite picture book of 2017.
