Bake Off Winners

18th MarchFINAL DAY. After a tough judging challenge for Great British Bake Off star Ian Cumming, the Y4 team were declared the winners.  Read all about it in the Cambridge News: Mayfield Bake Off Cambridge News Article

24th February – The second day of semi-finals is now complete.  Year 5 and 6 have produced some delicious looking cakes, with creative piping work.  The smell in school has been mouth-watering and the staff have all taken their judging task very seriously!

23rd February – Today year three and four contestants took part in the chocolate cake round. The children baked and iced a 20cm cake. Their challenge was not only to make the cake, but to create decoration using a piping bag. The results where very impressive and the smell in school was delicious!

Tomorrow is the turn of the year five and six semi-finalists.

11th February – Day 8 – 6O have all baked today and the first round of the Bake-off is now complete.  Once again the standard was very high.  We are looking forward to the chocolate cake round which begins on Tuesday 23rd February with year 4.

10th February – Day 7 – Elbow grease and team work has gone into creating some wonderful looking fairy cakes that are just asking to be eaten!  Great work 6F.  Tomorrow 6O will create the final fairy cake feast to conclude the first round of the Mayfield Bake-off.

3rd February – Day 6 saw some creative decorating techniques from 5C.  Once again the standard was very high and judging the cupcakes is an unenviable task.   Next week is the turn of year six.

2nd February – Day 5 – More weighing, mixing, stirring, baking and decorating has taken place today, and once again some fantastic, tasty looking cakes have been produced.  Today was the turn of 5M, tomorrow 5C will be donning their aprons.

26th January – Day 4 – Year 4 have now completed the first round of the Bake Off.  The picture show the careful planning that has gone in to producing such creative decorations for the cakes.

25th January – Day 3 of the Bake Off has seen 4N produce some fabulous looking cakes.  The thought and care that has gone in to the designs can be seen in the end products.  We’re looking forward to seeing 4M’s creations tomorrow!

20th January – Day 2 of the Mayfield Bake-off.  All year three children have now completed the first round of the Bake Off, with some more very accomplished cakes being produced.  Today’s judge was Mrs Jolley, also our school cook.  The two winning groups going through to the next round will be announced on Monday in assembly.  Thank you to all parents who came in and helped this week.

19th January – Day 1 of the Mayfield Bake-off.  The children rose to the challenge and worked in teams of three to produce some truly delicious and beautifully decorated cakes.  The cakes were all tasted by Ms Choukair, our school cook who had the very difficult task of choosing one winner to go through to the next round.  Results to be announced on Monday in assembly.  We’re looking forward to seeing the creations of the rest of the classes taking part!
