Y6 left for their residential trip to Overstrand Hall today. Please check back as we will be posting updates and photos here throughout the week.
Monday 20th @ 4.20pm – they arrived about half an hour ago and are unpacking their bags before their first activity.
Tuesday 21st @ 8.10am – some photos of yesterday’s activities have been added
@8.50am – after an evening quiz the majority slept very well (and we know from experience that after the first night the rest will too!). They’ve all eaten a good breakfast with many enjoying the cooked food options. Activities for this morning include orienteering, Jacob’s ladder, nightline and fencing. More photos to follow during the day.
@2.40pm – added some photos of the morning’s activities – searching for mini beasts, den building, fencing, Jacob’s ladder, orienteering and nightline.
@7.25pm – more photos added including buggy building and equilibrium
Wednesday 22nd @ 9.20am – all slept wonderfully last night after a night scavenger hunt. This morning they enjoyed sausages, hash browns and beans alongside the cold selection. They are about to start caving, leap of faith, bushcraft fire lighting and high equilibrium. Everyone is looking forward to seeing Mrs Barnes, Mrs Stepney and Mrs Ayliffe later today.
@12.35pm – photos uploaded of this morning’s activities
@3.20pm – more photos from today
Thursday 23rd @6.00am – last photos added from yesterdays activities.
@9.30am – everyone slept really well after a night walk yesterday evening. This morning they are adapting the activities to the stormy weather and this afternoon they will be visiting the beach.
Mrs Stepney says “It’s not about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.”
@2.30pm – during the morning they had a silent disco and some other indoor activities but now the weather has cleared they are pond dipping and playing Quidditch. Off to the beach in about an hour. More photos added.
@8.15pm – some photos from the very windy beach. They have also been making animals in tech workshop and are now having an indoor virtual campfire.
Friday 24th @ 10.40am – after a rousing campfire last night they have woken up to a beautiful bright and sunny day. Mrs Stepney has scored them all 10/10 for doing a fantastic job packing their things and stripping their beds. This morning’s activities include climbing, problem solving and archery. The coach is booked to leave Overstrand at 1.00pm and arrive back at Mayfield by 3.20pm – we will keep you updated once they are on their way.
@1.45pm – they left at 1.25pm and the driver estimates a 3.30pm arrival at Mayfield. We’ll keep you updated if this changes.
@2.40pm – they are delayed by roadworks in Norwich – new arrival estimate is 4.00pm
