{"id":1936,"date":"2014-01-14T18:37:49","date_gmt":"2014-01-14T18:37:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mayfieldcambridge.org\/?p=1936"},"modified":"2014-01-14T18:43:00","modified_gmt":"2014-01-14T18:43:00","slug":"molly-dancers-on-plough-monday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mayfieldcambridge.org\/?p=1936","title":{"rendered":"Molly Dancers on Plough Monday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Cambridge Morris Men very kindly came to Mayfield to demonstrate some molly dances to the children on Plough Monday (13th January). \u00a0 Plough Monday is the first Monday after Twelfth Night and in East Anglia was traditionally marked by ploughboys (who would be short of work at this time of year) dressing up and collecting money from the neighbourhood. \u00a0People who did not give money might wake up the next day to a \u00a0ploughed up garden &#8211; an early form of Trick or Treat!
