Monday 15th October

Y6 left on their Overstrand Hall adventure today.  Please check back here during the week for regular updates.

3.30 – Everybody has arrived safely and are settling into their rooms.  After dinner they will be enjoying an activity before taking part in a team quiz.

Tuesday 16th October

11.15am – Mrs Hill called from the payphone as the mobile signal is non-existent.  Everyone is having a great time so far.  The children were all asleep by 12.15am.  The selection of food is lovely and they are being well looked after by the Overstrand staff.

The weather has now perked up and is looking drier for the rest of the day.  Activities today include Frisbee Golf, Pond Dipping and Bush Craft Skills.

Wednesday 17th October

Today’s update was provided by Mrs Stepney from the Overstrand phone box.

The children (and adults) enjoyed a great night’s sleep following an action packed night-hike.  The children had adventures in the dark, navigating through the wooded areas and even encountered moonlit sheep.  A fantastic time was had by all.

Following a hearty breakfast, the groups are venturing out into a wonderful dry morning to take part in Jungle Ropes and Team Tech activities.  Everyone is looking forward to a warming lunch of jacket potatoes.

Mrs Stepney asked us to also share her observations that the beautiful surroundings of Overstrand Hall are wonderfully calming, relaxing and that the children are really enjoying their stay.  She reports it is wonderful to see them interacting in an entirely different way from school.  They are able to just ‘be’.

Mrs Stepney will be returning to school later today, having swapped with Mrs Ayliffe.

Thursday 17th October

The afternoon on Wednesday was filled with a Mini Olympics on the Overstrand Hall playing fields.  Groups of children also enjoyed orienteering around the grounds.  Last night the children settled quickly and were all fast asleep by 9.30pm.

Mrs Ayliffe made a call whilst en route to the beach this morning.  They are spending the whole morning there, and there is not a cloud in the sky, it is lovely and warm.  The children will be enjoying games on beach this morning before returning for lunch at the hall.

Lots of comments that the food is great.  We’ve been told that they don’t want to come home tomorrow.
