Year 2 had great fun last week for Science Week.  They started the week off by designing egg packages, discussed how to test them fairly and then carried out a fair test.  Soren won the competition.

They investigated ‘How we could change materials? and then chose two experiments to carry out. They froze orange squash in the freezer changing the orange squash from a liquid to a solid.  They enjoyed eating the ice cubes, changing them back to a liquid by the heat from their mouths!  They melted chocolate in the children’s kitchen in metal and plastic dishes using a wooden spoon.  The chocolate changed from a solid to a liquid when it was stirred with hot water underneath the plastic bowls.  The chocolate liquid was poured into moulds and then placed in the fridge.  I wonder what happened to it after that …

They enjoyed a science talk about Space and then went on and drew the planets.  They made up mnemonics to remember the order of the planets.

Meanwhile, Y6 visited the Engineering Department to build paper launchpads and then to test their own rockets. Some flew over the department onto the road behind!
