Here is an update on our appeal.  Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far – we really appreciate your support.

Appeal Update Letter 010721

Parents and carers will recently have received a letter from the governors regarding our current funding situation.

As we stated in the letter, many parents have asked how they can support the school and we are extremely grateful that even in times that are challenging for families, you still want to find ways to support Mayfield.  We recognise that the ability to support the school will very much depend upon personal circumstances and we absolutely do not want people to feel this is something they must get involved with.

However, if you can and would like to contribute to the school there are three projects that we are currently working on:

Phonics: We are reviewing and updating our phonics provision across the school. Our intention is that we will have reading books available for both home and school that match the children’s phonetic understanding at each stage of their learning, in line with the latest government expectations. These expectations involve the purchase of an extensive and therefore costly reading scheme. The cost of this project will be £3,500.

A Library Computerised Borrowing/Cataloguing/Monitoring System which would offer:

    1. Easy access – unlimited staff and pupil logins. Online anytime access to the library.
    2. Everyday library and resource management – issues and returns, catalogue search, reservations, catalogue enrichment, overdue book reminders etc.
    3. Engagement, reading and learning – pupil book reviews, recommended reads, access to books to support the curriculum. The cost of this project will be £2,500.

Maths – A Maths Mastery planning tool to continue to build expertise in the teaching of Maths Mastery and to provide supportive professional training for teachers new to Maths Mastery, as well as those already engaged with the teaching. For more information on Maths Mastery follow the link HEREThe cost of this project will be £1,000.

If you would like to help with the success of these projects, please contribute via ParentPay.   If you are a Mayfield parent and have not yet set up a ParentPay account please contact the school office for your ParentPay details.  If you are not a parent but would still like to donate please contact the school office.

Thank you so much for your support – we really appreciate it.
